New photo collection “The Vanished Worlds”

"The Vanished Worlds, self-portraits as echoes of an erased self.

Through this series, I question the loss of bearings, the erasure of self, the silent disappearance of identity.

Each image begins with a photograph of myself—a raw self-portrait that I then deconstruct in Photoshop.

Blurred faces, saturated textures, dissolved pixels. A work of digital material to bring out the inexpressible.

It's a tribute to David Lynch and Nirvana.

The former for his distorted worlds, his tense silences, his floating identities.

The latter for this muffled cry, this intimate chaos, this gentle rage that inhabits each disappearance.

The Lost Worlds are fragments of myself, allegories of our time, where the image saturates and the being dissolves." FD

Collages

Born on July 1, 1980, Nantes "Poly artist", Frédéric Drouin alias Smith Smith, musician and photographer.

He joined the artists referenced Maecene Arts in 2014.

He is noted for his most enjoyable and colorful collages. The critic and Doctor of literature Jean-Paul Gavard Perret prefaces his artist notebook "Tests and exorcisms".

The technique creates a dubious new space between fiction and reality, between creator and viewer.

The image becomes as much the commentary of reality as the images themselves taken from their contexts. Their scope becomes imponderable since each involves similar and dissimilar, political criticism but also poetry.
